Read write not to judge

After reading a book, whether it is a poetic collection, essay, novel or philosophical text, I wonder if during the reading I have processed my own thoughts or I let myself be kidnapped by the author’s thought, from his feelings, from his life to forget mine and assume his.

In short, if I have reflected or have entrusted myself to him deceiving me to reflect.

I wonder because often, rereading nothing of mine returns, nothing that has changed my way of seeing life. And then I realize that what I felt at first reading was a passing from him to me, without him upsetting my life but had deposited his being inside mine, as a suitcase of a loved one in a song and there remains closed. In short, a clutter that remains extraneous if not for the volume it occupies and for that familiar air, often affective, that surrounds it and overflows through the leather that enclosed its contents.

In the same way, looking at the cover I tell myself that I read it and I can still smell it and the thread that leads me back to the author’s soul and the subject. Opening the book and starting to read again, I return to feel the strangeness with my life and that process of penetration that I already felt at first reading. Now I am more aware that he is talking and not I, I observe the form of it I measure the appropriateness and appropriateness of the subject, I start to evaluate it critically, with the awareness that each evaluation is subjective.

But at this point I am terrified to notice that this is exactly what I do with my writings.
At first, I seem to have written the masterpiece of my life, but rereading it, I examine the form, I compare it with the content and since I wrote it, I realize, or I have the presumption to notice, which is inadequate to the strength of the feelings from which it was aroused.

I try to touch up here and there, to correct certain expressions, to make them more significant.

But it stays me like a wave of despair at my inability to fully express myself. A wave created by the immediacy of the verses written.

Reflecting subsequently on what I have written, I realize that there is an equality between feeling and the written word, that form and essence are indivisible, that through my words it is possible to know my essence, that of reality and of human feeling .

I will not wonder if my writing will be judged by the reader but if a relationship between him and my feelings will be established in the reader, between the reality of his life and mine. This is not the judgment I pay attention to. Every judgment can only be wrong. To judge a poet it is not even enough to know the person.

That’s why I can’t stand literary critics, whether traditional, revolutionary or reactionary. They should be prophets to be able to assess the validity or not of a poet beyond the present. Instead, they believe they possess timeless culture and knowledge. Which allows them to separate, by trade, the form from the content and to fill the former with their own thoughts, thus finding in the poet subjected to examination (because it is an examination: passed or rejected) what they expect from every poet. The training does not allow them to abandon themselves to the possibility of accepting or rejecting the inseparable relationship between the inner feeling and the written word. Critics know the accusations that are made against them and protect themselves by practicing their profession only on poets they know personally, who are part of their circle, who therefore will not accuse them.

I noticed in my readers, the condition that allows them to accept or reject but not to judge, because in order to judge, as already mentioned, a deep knowledge of the person is not enough either.

In the past, some readers have judged and condemned me, feeling offended by my way of thinking. They had the good sense to exile themselves from my world. I am happy about it and, years later, I still thank them.

Needless to say, I extend my most sincere thanks to all those who follow me, who don’t judge me, who share my “feeling” of the world, even if it is different from theirs.

Leer escribir no juzgar

dalle ampie corolle rosa
e beve a sorsi brevi
nello sfolgorio dello zampillo
Fuggo dalle nuvole
che il vento mi spinge contro
perché la lontananza partorisce il dolore.
Vorrei essere un poeta
che ama le parole dolci
e le dolci speranze
che nell’impossibile
irrompono come probabili.

The most beloved star

Lying under the rays of the sun, I dream.
In the dream, I speak
and my words sound out the darkness
of absence in the void.
I open my eyes and look for you.
I look for you in the shade of the garden
among the tender flowers
with large pink corollas
similar to the softness of your skin.
I am looking for you in the dove
which alights hesitantly at the edge of the fountain
and drinks in small sips in the blaze of the jet,
raises its head and looks at me with this pleasure
which makes your pupils shine.
I look for you in the leaves
that quiver like your hair
when you shake your head and smiling you deny yourself.
Or among the stormy waves
where my soul is shipwrecked
in the mysterious foams of blue algae and kisses.
I run away from the clouds
that the wind pushes against me
because distance brings pain.
I would like to be a poet who loves sweet words
and the sweetness of hopes
that burst into the impossible like probable promises.
I am looking for you
in the immense void of my hands
with two comets of light imprinted on the palms
fleeing to meet and return
to the small space of our sheets.
To seek you where the moon rises,
lift its fine veil and discover your body.
This is how are discovered
the most beloved stars
ones most mysterious, ones most distant.

assegniamo nomi
volti voce e vita
alle cose che sfioriamo soltanto.
Forse perché nell’intimo
pensiamo che siano
a nostra immagine e somiglianza

A quelle fin, je me demande.

A quelle fin, me répète-je

Night walk

At sunset, in the distant horizon
that extinguishes the bright embers
of the sun between the branches,
the dim light of the rare street lamps in the park
weakens a large part of life and forms
of the trees, the statues, the gray river
that accompanies my slow meditation.
From the dark mass of the fronds,
the quivering leaves descend on the riverfront
like clouds driven by the wind.

To what end, I wonder.

Each thing is alone with itself mute
like the stones, the branches, the fountains,
the earth I tread on,
the river that flows beside me.
But they have life and faces?
With the whispers carried on the wind,
we give names faces voice and life
to the things we only touch.
Maybe because we know
they are in our image and likeness
and we believe to be the center.
Looking up to celestial space
we feel that it persists in us
the substance of the stars
and we imagine that we dominate
the chorus of their lights.
Looking within ourselves,
we believe to be
the most fecund part of the universe.

To what end, I repeat to myself,
trampling the dark grass, if we are like the wind
or the river that disperses water in water?

Caminata nocturna

damos nombres, rostros voz y vida
a las cosas que solo tocamos.
Quizás porque sabemos que son
a nuestra imagen y semejanza

tra ramo e ramo, tra foglia e foglia ? Ha un senso
il suo infrangere la chioma?
Nel movimento dell’esistere
che la spinge a colmare il vuoto
germoglia in nuovi rami la linfa.
Ma fioriranno in controluce
alle pareti nude del nulla
senza invadere lo spazio.
Solo il mio sguardo frutto della solitudine
lo può colmare. Essendo vuoto
posso dargli un nome. Allargo le braccia
e lo chiamo
incomprensibile nulla, inafferrabile cielo

Etant vide
je peux lui donner un nom. Je ouvre mes bras
et je l’appelle
rien incompréhensible, ciel insaisissable
lumière à l’aube, feu du coucher
l’œil du dieu incarné. A mon cri

Recognize

Is the space between branch and branch,
between leaf and leaf an essential part of the tree?
Does it make sense to break her fronds?
In the movement of existence
that pushes her to fill the void
the sap germinates in new branches.
But they will bloom against
the bare walls of nowhere
without invading the space.
Only my gaze, fruit of solitude
it can fill it. Being empty
I can give it a name. I spread my arms
and I call it
incomprehensible nothing, elusive sky
light in the dawn fire of the sunset
eye of the god incarnate. At my scream
the void becomes the weaving of branches
acquires consistency and scent of leaves.
In the compactness of the texture achieved
I recognize the divine nature of emptiness
the most intimate essence of the tree.

Reconocer

nada incomprensible, cielo esquivo
adquiere consistencia y olor a hojas.
En la compacidad de la textura lograda
Reconozco la naturaleza divina del vacío.
la esencia más íntima del árbol.

Esistono ancora le parole dei morti
dai toni esagerati con gesti antichi
che costruivano dal nulla immagini
di un passato non pienamente credibile?
O li pensiamo come voci spente
triste nebbia che invade i nostri giorni?
Chi vive li ricorda ancora
Vecchio a chi parli? A chi confessi

Hai notato come corrono veloci i treni?

The trains

Have you noticed how fast the trains run?
Reds with a hint of sharp white
they penetrate the volatile flesh of the future.
Have you seen how useless windows are?
Luminous glass eyes on silent backdrops.
In their motionless gaze
the countryside shines through
the trees and houses move backwards
turn into the fog of the past.
In the slow blurring of the contours, we hear
a quick succession of memories,
a subtle breeze of images
that blows and shakes the gray branches of oblivion.
Melancholy returns rejuvenated.
Our arms raised and tears, to stop
the time that slips faster
and faster and moves away.

in cieli liquidi e sconosciuti
Braccia! O il nulla da cui sei tornato?

Lazare

Tu es de nouveau parmi nous,
morts avant ta résurrection
qui te demandent comment tu as vécu – oui
Bras! Ou le rien dont tu es revenu ?

Lazarus

You are among us again,
died before your resurrection
who ask you how you lived – yes,
lived – among gadflies and worms
in the darkness of unconsciousness
if you wandered like a bird
in liquid and unknown skies
if the sand creaked in front of your steps
if the night was green velvet
if a light shone with azure angels
or for lightning in storms
if you thought about your past life
or if everything was as douse as the life of a stone.
Your body took it in hand Christ
and he launched it back into the turbulent river of life.
Now that you are among us again
you sway in the dull bubbling of blood,
in the urgency of the flesh
who returns to desire and suffers.
If you close your eyes you feel
the taste of new life and the sourness
of a new death.
Aren’t you afraid to go back into his arms?
Arms! Or the nothing you came back from?
