Seminare a mano (testo ITA – FR – ENG)

To sow by hand
Sometimes I seem to be one of those many country people who live in the simplicity of their hovels. The one who did not know how to turn his work into an industrial process and remained sowing by hand throwing the seeds with gestures from the past in the furrows traced with so much sweat. Her neighbors cross their properties, dressed in the most garish and appropriate garments to celebrate their abilities, skills, sitting on huge tractors or powerful threshing machines to collect the products of their mechanical work. Or, they walk proudly in their heated greenhouses, where what has germinated is sprinkled automatically, protected from all the unexpected of nature. Or suck the milk from the cows with automatic mouths wrapped by rubber lips. And everyone admires them around applauding their appearance and the know-how that has turned a man into a miracle. I stay away watching, leaning to my shovel, sharpening the sharp wire of the scythe, the tips of my little plow, removing the mud from the hidden corners of the plow. With eyes looking to the sky fearing and hoping that at least the god with the goat’s paw will sit and listen to my complaints. He will be drunk, of course. He will be drunk, of course. He will look at the goats with a concupiscent eye, he will scratch himself in the middle of the hair of body with vulgar gestures like only a drunkard can do, staggering and laughing. But I am sure that only he will praise my verses, believing that they celebrate wine and life, taking my cries for song and for pats on the shoulders the spade shots in the arid furrows of my fields. I will tell, look, you who are followed by maenads without restraint, how my verses creep into the folds of the heart and grow in the dark, covered with a cloak of snow and when no one remembers them, they go out with their tender points, climb the days and ripen red bunches of grapes. Now harvest them, squeeze them, tread them at your sharp feet until the pain gushes out and wets the blind man’s eyes like a rain that regenerates the earth. Then my verses will show their true face illuminated by the truth.
